The following is a glimpse of the Palace on Wheels facilities that contribute towards making the journey all the more magical- After India got independence in 1947, all the royal rail carriages were ceased to be used. Because of their rich artistry on the inner walls, it was not possible to include these in the fleet regular passenger trains. It was only on 26th January 1982, that Palace on Wheels pioneered the tradition of luxury train journey in India and made its maiden voyage as a luxury steam engine train. This luxury Indian train started operating in a regular basis from October 1982.

Accommodation- When luxury marries elegance and gracefulness, Palace on Wheels accommodation takes its shape. The 14 fully air-conditioned sedans are decorated in a way that offer solace to your visual senses and at the same time pampers your body and soul. Maharaja and Maharani, the two regal class restaurants onboard serve cuisines from around the world along with offering some signature dishes from the Rajasthani culinary tradition. Khidmatgar (Personal Attendant)- To make your journey experience all the more extravagant, the Palace on Wheels has introduced the concept of Khidmatgar or personal attendant. All the personal attendants are specially trained to offer you the best of hospitality services and to make your every wish come true.

Arrival Kit- As it is said earlier that every aspect of Palace on Wheels facilities will make you surprised, so the beginning of the journey also is no less than a beautiful astonishment. Every passenger is offered an arrival kit as they check in to the train. The kit consists of stationary items, broachers and cards etc. If you want anything additional, you can ask that from the personal attendant who will be at your service round the clock.

Indoor Games- Understanding each need of the guests, the facilities are molded on this regal class train. An array of indoor games such as chess, Chinese checker, cards, carom board and crossword puzzle are available onboard. The luxury Indian train Palace on Wheels offers three kinds of possessions- Single, Double and Triple occupancy. The following tariff plan is based on per person per night basis. The prices may include additional charges during special festive season departures. Along with the Palace on Wheels tariff, the terms & conditions, booking policy, cancellation policy and inclusions & exclusions are also being discussed. Terms & Conditions The fare of Palace on Wheels covers the following - The charges for travel, catering, sightseeing, entrance fee at monuments/palaces/other places of interest, cultural performances, camel ride at Sam Sand Dunes (Jaisalmer), boat ride at Lake Pichola (Udaipur) and rickshaw ride at Bharatpur.
The fare of Palace on Wheels doesn't cover the following - The charges for drinks, outgoing calls, tips, laundry, facility of the business car, beverages and other items of personal nature, video camera fees etc.

  • » 50% of the tariff at the time of the confirmation of the booking.
  • » Remaining 50% of the tariff needs to be paid 60 days prior to departure.
For the fully independent travelers (FITs)
  • » 50% of the tariff while confirming the booking.
  • » Remaining 50% of the tariff 75 days prior to the journey.
Cancellation Policy If the guests want to cancel their tour, they need to inform about the same through e-mail or fax. The amount of the refunded money completely depends upon the number of days left for the scheduled departure.
In Case of FITs (Fully Independent Travelers)-
  • » 95% of the ticket value would be refunded in case the cancellation is made 60 days prior to the scheduled departure date
  • » 80% of the ticket value would be refunded if the cancellation is made 30-59 days prior to the scheduled departure date
  • » No refund would be given if the cancellation is made 0-29 days prior to the scheduled departure date.
In Case of Group Bookings-
  • » If the guests made their cancellation 60 days prior to the departure date, 90% of the total journey price would be refunded
  • » If the guests made the cancellation 0-59 days prior to departure date, no refund would be offered.
